This is a classic death chart, very easy to read. However there is no way of knowing if a death will actually take place -- just that it is a possibility.
Always to have a catastrophic event take place in your life, you must have a negative secondary progression which Travolta has with progressed Mercury squaring (bad) Pluto (the planet of death).
He also has progressed Mars (younger men) conjunct (neutral) transiting Pluto.
The progressed Mercury is in the House of Foreign Places. The progressed Mars is in the Fifth House of Children.
Also the progressed Moon which acts like a trigger is exactly opposite his natal Mercury in the Eighth House of Death.
Could he have prevented this by not going to the Bahamas? I doubt it. My first reaction to this loss was that the child was ready to move on. Regardless of what John and his wife did, give the child drugs or not, they did not cause his death in the sense that it was fated.
I once had someone say to me that so-and-so caused me to lose my job. My response was, no, I was going to lose it anyway. It didn't matter how. It was in my astrology chart. I was prepared and knew it was going to happen. So some things are simply fated and cannot be prevented. They happen for a reason even if it doesn't make any sense at the time.
So the Travolta family should try to move away from any feelings of guilt. This simply was going to take place. It was written in the stars.
